Stop with the AI bullshit - 2024-11-13 Don’t send me some long-winded LLM text to read that you didn’t fact check. I’m not against using those tools, theyre extremely useful, but you need to have some basic understanding of how they work before you start trusting them with parts of your job.

Generative AI (aka ChatGPT) is a fantastic tool. LLMs are super useful, but please try to understand how they work before using them to do your job. Here is a list of incorrect uses I have seen:

• Creating a long document, and then sending it to your coworkers to review. If you created it, its your job to review it. LLMs easily create structured documents that signal to people that they are high quality, when in reality, they are often just back-of-a-napkin thoughts that have not been fully formed. The LLM just fills in the gaps and makes it appear more complete.
• reporting on information that isnt public. How do you think your AI tool knows the answers to your questions? it had to read a ton of stuff on the internet.
